My goal is to have the rest of the pledges out by the end of this month. It has been a long road, but I think this is doable if we pull some all-nighters. Every step has just taken longer and scaling up production 2000% didn't help. At the end of production we will have cut more than 60,000 individual pieces for this project!!!
Shipped Pledge Support
With hundreds of pledges zooming around the world there are bound to be broken or missing pieces or a misdelievered package etc., so to keep things organized on our end I have set up a new reporting form for folks who have experienced an issue with their shipped pledge.
We have already been shipping out replacements, however if you have not received yours yet please submit the form so we can check on all support requests and get tracking to you more easily.
What Else Is Up?
While my sister Amy had to go down to 1-2 days a week at the office because of her class schedule, a fellow backer, the amazing Chartaan, offered his services and has been stopping in to help keep things moving along! Not only that, but he made a custom Funko Pop of ME :O
Since packing pledges isn't all that exciting beyond seeing all the cool places around the world DESK WIZARDs are going, we decided to spice things up by doing the PAQUI One Chip Challenge...
From the Paqui Website
"It's our spiciest lineup ever featuring the world's hottest pepper, the Carolina Reaper, along with a NEW one-two punch from Scorpion Pepper and Sichuan Peppercorn. Your taste buds will be begging you to tap out. Do you have what it takes to go head to head with the Reaper?"
For your amusement here is a timelapse of me and my sister beating the heat! As a bonus I put my coupon for a free bag of Paqui chips into one of the pledges I packed during my suffering XD

I hope everyone is doing well and has had plenty of time to paint! Alas, I have not been able to paint lately, but I have been able to social distantly adventure through Curse of Strahd on Roll20 with the D&D crew a few evenings! The fam is doing well. Among the mundane like explaining to the boys for the 1,000th time that is Papa's candy, my wonderful wife had her # birthday, 2/3 of the kids have started school, we grew a HUGE pumpkin vine and a pumpkin, I cleaned half the garage, and on the weekends, I may have taken a sunbeam nap or two...
Game Envy wise we have been hard at work every day packing pledges, answering emails, running the Game Envy shop and thinking of more ways we can support our wonderful hobby ;D All of the 48"x48" acrylic sheets have been broken down into 11"x48" strips on the Routertron 5000. BUT I continue to improve the trip to their final form with inventions like the push-broom guide/acrylic dust remover! This helps us keep the laser cutters fed since they are still running 5+ hours a day cranking out pledge goodies :O
I have been trying to get to everyone's questions during the work day and I know people have been looking for an update, so here it is...
DESK WIZARD Shipping Continues!
That is all... XD In all seriousness though, like I have mentioned, we are shipping out pledges every day as we have been. We have a few more weeks to go before all the pledges are shipped. I don't have exact numbers of shipped vs not shipped since we just have rolls of labels that get smaller as we pack them. I truly want to thank everyone for you patience! It has been a very long and very busy three months since the campaign ended for the two of us at the office, and I know you all are excited to get your hands on your DESK WIZARDs! Like I said in Update #11, We love you and we are working on shipping your pledge :D
First, if you have questions regarding shipping PLEASE check out Update #11 or read this section which includes key parts of that update and more. Most of the inquiries we receive have been answered in the updates. If your question isn't answered here or there is an issue with your pledge please reach out and we will get it taken care of!
We purchase shipping labels in bulk batches to get the best price for postage, which means you may receive a tracking number from the USPS or BackerKit before your pledge is shipped. This just means you are in the packing queue. Until you see movement on your tracking number, or I send out the Shipping Complete update we are still diligently working on getting your pledge to you!
Pledges are packed in "packing groups" which are similar or the same grouping of items selected. This makes it much easier on us when packing, but it also means someone in your state or country could receive their pledge before you. So far we have had pledges have arrive safely in all parts of the world and they continue to every day.
Delivery times for couriers are all over the place right now due to the pandemic situation. We will be observing the current expected delivery and customs timelines before deeming a pledge lost in transit. Please feel free to reach out via private message if you feel your package is lost as we won't be tracking them individually. See bullet one before getting worried though.
For international backers: Once a package has passed through customs into your country it will be delivered by your regional carrier service, so they will probably have more information than the USPS. If they can't answer your concerns please send me a message and we will get it sorted!
Because we are minimizing the amount of bodies in the office it is just me and my sister packing pledges. This is a bit different than our Hobby Holder campaigns where we had packing parties and combined with in house manufacturing everything is just a bit slower going that we hoped.
If you have received your pledge and there was an issue such as a broken part, missing pieces or incorrect color please let us know and we will continue to get those squared away! Mistakes happen especially with all the variables in pledge selections and we are happy to fix them, so just send us a PM on Kickstarter or email via the Game Envy Contact Form.
In regards to the Rank 14 Spacious Top Plate, it requires two fewer Supports than the Standard and Cork Top Plate. We aren't sending fewer Supports for those however, so just pocket the extras for later. The Base Plates ARE standardized so there will just be two extra slots for those Rank 14s.
Finally, for those of you who are worried about the delivery of the campaign, please don't fret. All the supplies have been in our hands since before shipping began and production and shipping continues daily. Everyone will be getting their pledges as fast as we can get them out the door :D We have more than 15,000 hobbyists around the world with Game Envy products who can attest to our commitment!
That's all I have for now! If there is anything else you want to know just give me a shout!

DESK WIZARD Rank 10 + Rank 14 Shipping Is Starting!

WE ARE STARTING YOUR DESK WIZARD PLEDGE SHIPMENTS TODAY! HUZZAH!
I realize we are a few days beyond July (sorry), but in the large scheme of things, an in house production of a 2000% funded project starting shipments in less than 2 months still counts as a win right? XD The delay is partially due to the sheer volume of add-ons you all got :O Thank you so much for continuing to support Game Envy and the DESK WIZARD line this way. It means I have a clearer picture of what everyone is looking for and how to expand the DESK WIZARD line in the future. I am so excited to be able to continue to create for you all!
There are a couple of key items in regards to shipping I wanted to mention that I have been asked in our previous campaigns:
We will be purchasing postage in batches, so just because your label has been created it doesn't necessarily mean it has shipped. We will be packing pledges every weekday, but there are still 1000+ of them so it will take a minute. Until you have movement on your tracking or receive an email from BackerKit letting you know your pledge shipped it probably hasn't shipped.
Because of how we are segmenting pledges to make packing easier on us, someone in your state or country could receive their pledge before you. It doesn't mean yours was lost or forgotten. We love you and we are just still working on shipping your pledge :D
Delivery times are all over the place right now due to the pandemic situation. We will be observing the current expected delivery and customs timelines before deeming a pledge lost in transit. Please feel free to reach out via private message if you feel your package is lost as we won't be tracking them individually once we hand them off to the carrier. See bullet one before getting worried though.
For international backers: Once a package has passed through customs into your country it will be delivered by your regional carrier service, so they will probably have more information than the USPS. If you have concerns about your package I would suggest trying them first with delivery issues.
We are shipping directly to you via USPS not through a fulfillment company, so if you do have concerns just private message us, and we can see what we can do.
That is all the big items I have. If you need any further clarification just let me know and I will post that information. NOW... Off to packing pledges :D
Thanks so much for the amazing support,
Pledge Surveys Locking | Production Progress | From Full Sheet to DESK WIZARD
3 months ago

Hello My Friends,
I hope everyone is staying safe and staying cool. We finally got some some portable AC units in the office which has definitely bolstered moral while we are running laser cutters, 3d printers, computers, lights etc. all while packing and lifting and moving DESK WIZARD goodness around! We actually feel like making coffee at the office again...
Pledge Surveys Locking
The original date I was planning on locking completed surveys was the 6th, however, I wanted to wait a full two weeks to make sure y'all had enough time. We have about an 85% completion rate right now, but that still leaves ~150 folks who haven't selected their rewards yet. Tomorrow is the last day to make changes to filled surveys then we will lock them and process payments. Anyone who hasn't completed the survey please try to go in and do that! Once we start shipping, stragglers will be placed at the back of the shipping queue.
In the last few weeks we have been hard at work continuing to pack all the various bits and bobs and nuts and bolts. We have been spreading the packing across the whole line of parts so that as soon as the labels start spitting out of the printer we can start sending you your pledge rewards!
Speaking of shipping labels, can you believe our sweet little Dymo 4XL Label Printer has printed every label for our three Kickstarter campaigns, some others we helped ship, packing slips, retailer boxes, and all the Game Envy shop orders for the last three years! We are talking well over 30,000 labels this little dude has printed :O It also survived the rainstorm inside our office last year and numerous bonks... I'm impressed! But I digress.
I have also been improving on the super slicer and how I break down the 48x48" sheets to their 10x16.75" that we run through the laser cutters. More on that in "From Full Sheet to DESK WIZARD" below :D
The only other piece of the puzzle I am waiting on me on ;D is the instruction sheet which I am working on finalizing. It takes a little time to 3D model the parts to make the parts explosion diagram. Although, it's not as bad as it was since, through the campaign, we have standardized parts throughout the DESK WIZARD line. You will even be able to use your colored supports on the R1, R3 and R5 and vice versa!
From Full Sheet to DESK WIZARD
I wanted to give y'all a little look at the process and what goes into each DESK WIZARD until it comes off the cutters, so I took some photos while going through the stages! It is a small part of the story, but I am sure no one wants to look through the 562 files in the DESK WIZARD folder (and 4 in the DeskBuddy folder haha) on my computer or see the exciting world of packing bolts into bags XD
Step #1 is marking the matte side of the 48" acrylic sheets so we know which way to face them in the cutter. This step is probably the easiest and the only job we do in the office that requires crayons.
Step #2 is scoring and breaking the sheet into 10x48" strips. This process has gotten a lot faster as I improve the cutter and my technique. Instead of "score, flip, score, break, repeat x3" I have set up some measured stops so I can go "score, score, flip, score, break, score, break, repeat" which cuts the hardest part, the flipping, by 75%! It might not seem like much but it saves time and my knees :D
Step #3 is pretty much the same as Step #2 except it is a lot easier to work on the narrower strips. I installed two wooden stops on the cutting table so I can reduce the flipping step on this cutter too. In fact it is the exact same "score, score, flip, score, break, score, break" to process each strip.
Step #4 is just running the cutters. We have guides set up, so we can just toss in the sheet and they are lined up to start cutting. While there IS more room on the laser bed, it isn't enough to make a huge difference and this way we have as little waste material as possible.
Step #5 is scooping the various pieces into the right bin or sorting them onto the right stack ready to be packed. After that it is just sweeping the tiny scrap bits into a bucket and reloading the laser cutters. Rinse and repeat :D
I hope that was an interesting look into this part of the process. As more interesting stuff happens I will be sure to document them to share!
